I had a kid in Grade 3 question Henry the security bear’s choice to dress up for Halloween.
Kid: Why’s he wearing that?
Me: Because he’s excited about Halloween, of course.
Kid: *rolls eyes* He’s not real, he’s just a teddy bear. Teddy bears aren’t alive.
Me: Oh? How do you know?
Kid: Because he doesn’t move.
Me: Are you sure? Maybe he just moves when you’re not looking.
Kid: *pause; wide eyed* …Have you seen him move?
Me: Oh yeah! Loads of times!
Kid: *gapes*
